UPCOMING SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS FOR ITAC FPS:

April 20, 2016 – Senior Fall Protection Engineer, Chris Link will be presenting at the Blue Ridge Safety Association Safety Seminar.  Title of his presentation to be:  “New standards and potential upcoming changes – learn what you need to know!”

April 28, 2016 – Fall Protection Division Director, Bruce Simms will be speaking at the VPPPA Region III Conference.  Title of this presentation to be : “So the worker’s fall was successfully arrested – now what?!?!”  Please see below for a brief description.

This presentation allows attendees to think about their fall hazard mitigation all the way through the rescue phase.  Rescue continues to be one of the most overlooked parts of a managed fall protection program.  Fortunately, there are tools and methods available today that don't have to be terribly complicated or require a high level of training and re-training.  Attendees will take a look at the critical nature of rescue and how new products can assist with a speedy conclusion.

ITAC Fall Protection Services recently partnered with IVES Training Group.  This partnership allows us to provide additional training courses previously not offered.  Additional trainings offered include:  Aerial Lift Training and Forklift Training.  Please stop by our training page for additional information and brochures.

Falls have been and continue to be the leading cause of injury and death in today's workplace. It should come as no surprise that falls are at or near the top of OSHA's top ten list of workplace dangers/hazards. The latest Bureau of Labor & Statistics data indicate that while the overall trend in worker injuries and deaths seem to have plateaued or fallen off, the rate of injury or death due to falls is still on the rise.

The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry recently held their 20th Annual Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Conference October 21-23. The conference included speakers on various health and safety topics as well as a tradeshow. ITAC Fall Protection Services was asked to present at this conference. Bruce Simms, PE and Chris Link, PE gave a presentation titled “Fall Protection Solutions – Off-the-Shelf or Engineered?” (Brief summary below)

Fall Protection Solutions – Off-the-Shelf or Engineered?

This extended presentation will walk through the latest product offerings by the major fall protection manufacturers. It will explore various scenarios, along with pros and cons of different types of hazard mitigation. Additionally, some products come with dangers for misuse/abuse while others need the involvement of an OSHA Qualified Person for an Engineered Solution.

Exposure to some of the newest technologies will help the attendee to make informed decisions about how to handle real life hazards at their facilities. A question and answer session towards the end will also allow the group to address specific scenarios and walk through the decision making process (following the Hierarchy of Controls). This session will provide clarity to anyone attempting to wade through the confusing set of regulations and products on the market!

ITAC FPS is thankful for the opportunity to present and participate at this conference and tradeshow.
